Summit CERT

The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) program educates volunteers about disaster preparedness for the hazards that may impact their area and trains them in basic disaster response skills, such as fire safety, light search and rescue, team organization, and basic first aid. CERT offers a consistent, nationwide approach to volunteer training and organization that professional responders can rely on during disaster situations, allowing them to focus on more complex tasks.

The Summit CERT program gives you the flexibility of learning online, in your spare time and then demonstrating your skills at our training day.

The online portion takes 16-20 hours and needs to be completed before the Hands-On Training Day.

In order to earn your CERT Certification, you must complete both requirements:

  • The online portion

  • The Hands-On Training

As part of your training with CERT, you will receive a good quality CERT backpack, a CERT helmet and some personal protective items at the Learning Review.

There is a cost of $50 for this course payable to Summit County at the Hands-On Training Day. This fee covers your backpack, helmet, provided gear and the cost to conduct the training.
